Poetic Genius ♐ Sagittarius Season 2024

Hello Stargazer,

On November 21st, 2024, the Sun burst out the dark waters of Scorpio, entering the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius.

The funeral march now becomes a soaring symphony as the light of the logos leaps up into the stars.

The fires of Sagittarius are that of spirit and imagination.

And this is why the mood paradoxically becomes brighter in Sagittarius season, even as the sky grows darker. These final days of the Sun’s descent can be exhausting, but the fire illuminates the darkness, offering a vision of triumph over adversity.

It kindles renewed faith and a feeling of expansion that will carry you through the long winter ahead.

This season of Sagittarius will inspire a philosophical response to the world’s madness.

Wisdom is born from struggle and crisis brings unexpected opportunities.

As Victor Hugo said, “There’s nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come.”

So let this season be a time to rediscover the light within and envision the ideas that are destined to triumph over all adversity.

Sagittarius season is like a drum roll for the coming solstice, building anticipation and enthusiasm for the light’s return. The promise of the Sun’s rebirth fills the air with a feeling of celebration.

The feeling of celebration resurrects your spirits with renewed faith and vision. Faith is the quality of wholeness and holiness, that never doubts love to be the center and source of all creation.

“If a thing loves, it is infinite.”

And after the morose eclipses, this change in seasons will feel like Ode to Joy from Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Friedrich Nietzsche once described the Ninth Symphony as feeling like…

”floating above the earth in a starry dome, with the dream of immortality in his heart.”

And that dream of immortality in your heart is exactly what the spirit of Sagittarius inspires. For if Scorpio season offers an illumination of death, then Sagittarius burns with the knowledge that there is a light and it never goes out.

The discovery of the light within inspires a feeling of comfort and joy. And the Sun’s imminent resurrection kindles the heart.

Sagittarius is the sign of prophets and visionaries, of Heraclitus and John the Baptist who prepared the way for the coming of the light.

Burning Bright

“Eternity is in love with the productions of time.”

Sagittarians are true believers and their spirit is infectious, spreading the light of optimism and faith. A prime example of this brightness of spirit is the great Romantic poet, William Blake.

William Blake was a part of the Romantic movement, a great mystic and artist of his time. His legend describes him communing with angels, discovering eternity within microcosms. But he was also a political revolutionary. And his poetic vision was inseparable from his views of natural law and the political order. Many of his poems are a mixture of political struggle, sexual liberation and cosmic apocalypse.

“Why is the Bible more entertaining and instructive than any other book? Is it not because they are addressed to the imagination?”

Blake was a true believer, with powerful religious convictions. But he was wholly unorthodox. He fought against the hubris of the Enlightenment, championing for human imagination and personal freedom.

He ignored the moral prescriptions, political ideologies of his era, relying on his experience of the source of human life, the light of the logos within.

Rationalism was a deceptive attempt to discredit the divinely inspired insight of the visionary. And he wholly rejected the Enlightenment era’s attempts to impose an external standard of knowledge and behavior.

For example, in the late 18th Century, Newtonian science had determined that the Sun was a burning stone floating millions of miles away in empty space. But Blake defied this view, saying:

Scholar Peter Fisher wrote that Blake's"outer revolt became the revolutionary protest against arbitrary political power exercised in the name of this kind of law.”

“Nonsense! I know what the Sun is! It’s a choir of angels singing,
‘Glory! Glory! Glory to the Lord God! Hallelujah!”

Blake also believed this world to be the valley of the shadow of death. And thus, as a prophetic revolutionary he sought to transform death into the light of vision.

As a revolutionary poet and prophet, William Blake spoke out against all the authorities and fact-checkers of his age, including King George, John Locke, and Isaac Newton.

Blake learned to become more cautious about speaking out about politics when charged with sedition in 1803: for uttering remarks against the King. Had he not been acquitted, he could have faced decades of imprisonment.

“He whose face gives no light, shall never become a star.”

History recalls King George III as being incompetent and mentally ill, the Joe Biden of his day. Whereas, the light of William Blake’s star continues to rise century after century.

Blake published his original poems, philosophies and theologies as illuminated manuscripts, which are still effective in captivating the modern reader’s cinematic imagination.

One of his most important works is a pamphlet called, "All Religions Are One," a perfect example of the Sagittarian spirit written as a series of seven philosophical statements. In this work, Blake unifies his artistic, philosophical and religious views, offering the reader a look at the world through his visionary lens.

As all men are alike (tho’ infinitely various), So all Religions & as all similars have one source. The true Man is the source, he being the Poetic Genius.

Blake believed salvation could be found in a unifying religious experience shared by all humanity.

“The imagination is not a state: it is the human existence itself.”

Blake’s lifelong mission was to free the human soul from tyranny in all its forms and to inspire true faith, born from the light within.

“I must create a system, or be enslaved by another man’s. I will not reason and compare: my business is to create.”

This season is the time to connect to a higher vision of who you are and what your potential is. Supported by divine inspiration, you will be asked to contend with some heavy philosophical and religious questions that will naturally conflict with all forms of authoritarianism.

By the light of the Sun in Sagittarius, you may open your eyes to a bigger picture, where the constricting beliefs that have starved your spirit can finally be obliterated. Enjoy this patient process of philosophical growth!

“Without contraries is no progression. Attraction and repulsion, reason and energy, love and hate, are necessary to human existence.”

Conclusion

The Sagittarian fires of revelation pierce the darkness and inspire tremendous faith and optimism. The darkest days of the year demand that you operate on a slow shutter speed, keeping your perceptions wide open to gather all available light until a clear picture develops.

Let the visionary spirit of Sagittarius guide you to see far beyond your current struggles, uplifting your spirits with the light of eternity.

On December 21st, the solstice arrives. This is the holy-day of resurrection that Sagittarius has been preparing for. Celebrate this moment with deepest gratitude.
